FL7 Meaning

Q: What does FL7 mean?

"Food Applications" or "Food Software":
F = Food
L7 = Application

We focus on providing food safety software and a method for these systems to interoperate.

Q: Where does the name come from?

The idea came from the healthcare industry. HL7 is a standard for hospital information systems that was founded in 1987 and is used by the vast majority of healthcare software currently used inside and outside the US. Hospitals and other healthcare provider organizations typically have many different computer systems used for everything from billing records to patient tracking. All of these systems can now communicate with each other and share information in large part due to HL7. This type of standard communication protocol for systems is exactly what is needed in the food industry hence the term FL7.
