Q: How will you be able to help my company?
If you are in the food industry you spend a great deal of time preventing and addressing food safety issues. In the very near future the amount of information you will be required to manage related to food safety will increase exponentially. We will help you with this. Our goal is to provide you with information and systems that will streamline operations and allow your company to maintain compliance with FDA regulations.
Q: What solutions will you be offering?
We will be offering software that will guide you through documentation requirements, manage day to day collection of data and provide food chain traceability to satisfy FDA requirements. We expect to engage the community in a significant part of planning the final form of the software solutions. For further information about the software that will be made available see Software FAQ.
Q: What else will you be offering?
We will also be offering the ability to communicate with us directly, with similar organizations, with experts in the industry, with industry consultants, service\product suppliers and with government representatives that are all interested in sharing information regarding food safety.
Q: Are there any other software companies involved?
No other software companies are involved initially. Over time other 3rd party software companies that provide food safety software solutions will join us. And of course, we expect that many of the initial FL7 projects will involve products from companies besides our own.
Q: Who will determine which ideas and suggestions are selected as FL7 projects?
The short answer is you will. We will be providing section to the website called FL7 Brainstorm. FL7 members will be able to post ideas and make suggestions for new and existing products and services that all members will have the opportunity to vote on and add suggestions to. There will be a clearly documented application process, and project review will ultimately be the responsibility of the FL7 board of directors.
Q: Who may become an FL7 member?
FL7.org is currently structured as a membership organization. There are a number of ways for individuals, food companies, software companies, consultants, auditors, advertisers and government representatives to participate. The only requirement is that you are associated with the food industry. Over the coming months, the board will be defining project governance, which will provide clarity on how individuals or companies can contribute FL7 projects.
